5 Garden Projects You Can Still Finish This Summer

5 Garden Projects You Can Still Finish This Summer

Quick wins for your garden before the colder weather creeps in

Just because we’re halfway through summer doesn’t mean it’s too late to get cracking on a few garden projects. In fact, this time of year is perfect – the weather’s warm, the days are still long, and a bit of effort now means your garden’s sorted before autumn rolls around.

Here are five simple garden jobs you can still finish this summer – with a little help from us at Stubbs Copse.

1. Sort That Fence Out

We’ve all got a wobbly post or a fence panel that’s seen better days. It’s one of those jobs you notice every time you’re out in the garden – and then promptly ignore.

Now’s the time to fix it. Whether you’re patching up a section or redoing the whole run, we’ve got solid, treated timber panels and posts ready to go. All locally sourced, and built to handle British weather.

Need a hand choosing? Pop in or give us a call – we’re happy to talk you through it.

2. Knock Up a Few Raised Beds

Even in August, there’s still time to grow something. Quick crops like salad leaves, radishes and herbs go in now and keep you going into early autumn.

Raised beds are quick to build and make gardening easier on your knees. We’ve got everything you need to build your own – sturdy timber, cut to size if needed, and advice on how to get started.

Bonus: They look great too.

3. Get Ready for Winter with a Log Store

If you’ve got a wood burner or open fire, this is the time to get ahead. A proper log store keeps your firewood dry and tidy, and it’s a straightforward build with the right timber.

We’ve also got seasoned hardwood logs for sale – all locally sourced, low-moisture, and ideal for wood burners. They burn hotter, cleaner and longer, so you get more heat and less smoke.

We’ll even deliver across West Sussex, so you can stock up before the cold sets in.

4. Lay a New Garden Path or Sitting Area

If part of your garden turns into a muddy mess every winter, get ahead of it now. A timber path, gravel walkway or simple bark track is easy to put in and makes a world of difference.

Fancy a cosy corner with a bench or firepit? A few sleepers or decking boards, and you’re halfway there. We’ve got the timber and know-how – just ask if you’re unsure what’ll work best for your space.

5. Build Some Simple Outdoor Storage

Let’s be honest, sheds get cluttered fast. If you’ve got tools, leftover timber, or garden gear piling up, why not build something that suits your space?

A lean-to tool rack, a box for hosepipes, or a custom cupboard for bags of compost – there’s no need to overcomplicate it. With the right timber, you can knock something up in a weekend that actually works for you.

And if you’re not sure where to start, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
